I have found A IH scout T19 mated to a Dana 20 and was wondering if I could use the T19 behind an AMC 360 without too much fabrication. I've read that the 19 and 18 are basically the same except the 19 has a sycronized 1st gear, which I would perfer. Does anyone know if the input shafts are the same length or if the bolt patten is the same?
You guys are a great help, Thanks

Don't know specifically, but only heard bad things about IH transmissions and compatibility with anything but their IH app. I understand they have different bellhousing patterns and strange clutch linkages. There's been some discussion of using IH transmissions on the IFSJA board. Novak also has a bit to say about this - all negative.

You may be able to do the same trick that's done with Ford T18s though, and use the mainshaft and adapter from the IH transmission in a FOrd T19, then mate that to a T176/T150 CJ bellhousing (AMC to Ford pattern). Here's a link about the T18: http://www.earlycj5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4449

If it's cheap or free, I'd say get it and try combining it with a Ford T19.

    Thanks,
I don't think it's cheap enough to to be worth the trouble that I now see it will be. I will continue my search for a T18. Thanks again.

robb find yourself a ford np435 and use that tranney insted, better overall gearing. it use's the same bolt pattern as a ford T-18, bolt's directly to a T-176 bell housing and has the same 6.5'' long input shaft as a t-18 ( ford and jeep ).

if you find a ford 435 ( 4-wheel drive ) then go find your self a dodge 435 ( 4-wheel drive ), take the rear output shaft from the dodge ( 23 spline ) and put it into the ford, then use the dodge stock 8'' long adapter on the ford, what this is doing is its letting you bolt a dana 300 without any custom adapters to a np-435.

it works trust me, i have done it in jeeps and seeing how you have a waggy you have all the room for this type of swap, but remember bolth tranneys must be 4-WHEEL DRIVE, jason.

Thanks guys for the info on the For NP435. I hadn't thought of that as an option but it actually looks pretty good.
