We finally bought our canvas top from Beechwood and I need to know how far down the rope guide needs to be welded on the windshield. Thanks for all your help!
We will take photos as we do this top.

    I'm assuming this is a 3A, right?

Yes it is a 3A windshield. The tub was replaced many years ago with a M38 but the rest is CJ3A and is titled as that.

Thanks! Beechwood has a template you put on your jeep to match footman loops but nothing on the windshield.

My windshield is from my 2A. If it helps, the aluminum channel is positioned with the open slot facing down and the top portion is just shy of flush with the top of the windshield. It is fastened with sheet metal screws.

Appreciate all the help from everyone. Want this correct cause we don't want to redo it when we put the new windshield in.

Great photos! This will be such a help when we install our channel in the next two weeks. I am so ready to have a top so this rain won't stop us from getting on the road. It was nice last Saturday when we went to the car show in Granville, TN. We entered the show so we could have secure parking while we walked around and seen all the great cars and trucks. Thanks everyone for all of your help.
I see you have been working on your windshield PeteL. How much longer before you put it together?

    Not my windshield - I'm a CJ5 guy. I just googled CJ3A for you.

I do have a 2A w/s in my pile of parts, and it has the channel at the very top like Wenaha said.

Well, our top-bows, parts, and template for the canvas top from Beechwood should be here today or tomorrow so we can get ready for the canvas. Dan, at Beechwood has called everyday this week with progress reports and questions as the fabrication progresses.
We are excited to finally get a top on our jeep as I sunburn easily when we are out all day and it rather puts a damper on the day when I cannot enjoy it.
We plan to take many photos as we go through the mounting progress for this canvas top.
It means many projects we had on hold will be completed too, such as a new windshield to replace the cracked one, vacuum wipers and blades finally put back on, spare tire finally mounted etc.
Thanks to everyone that has given shared valuable life experience, (also known as been-there-done-that), to us. We appreciate it greatly and are glad this forum is here to help us not make as many mistakes. I am amazed the amount of great folks that share their knowledge freely and this has saved us time and a lot of money.
