Reverse switch wiring terminal?

Is there a part number for this terminal? I have the switch itself from another thread ~2 years ago (part #DR429), but am looking for the proper way to connect my wiring to it. NAPA recommended spreading the legs on a spade connection and going from there... not happening. The didn't seem too excited when I suggested we look in the picture books either.

Transmission itself is a T15, but the switch is the same number for T90 and T14 judging by the old broken switches in the herd outside. Please, someone has to know this...

 

It's just a SPST normally open switch - any way that you can connect to the two posts will work. The harness comes originally with a flat plastic socket that slides on both posts. No aftermarket source AFAIK. Possibly you could solder a wire lead to each post and connect to your harness with bullet connectors.

 

I originally soldered the leads on a while ago. It failed, that's the reason I'm looking for the connector to get it done the right way.

 

Other vehicles like Chevy's with the SM465 had one, might get lucky at a junkyard.

look at the plug end for a Delco alternator
you can buy those with a short pigtail attached
always wanted to try this, don't know if it will work
take the switch with you

 

When I rewired my kit came with a new terminal for the reverse light switch. I think I still have the old one. It worked but could stand new metal contacts.

prolly no werky...would have to be modified extensively

 

What harness was the new one? I'd be willig to try and buy the connector alone from someone if I could get my hands on it for a decent price.

 

I have the EZ2Wire kit off eBay. If IIRC, they sell those small parts on thier site seperately. If not, someone does because I saw it sold with switches and other small electrical components somewhere when I was doing the research back then.
I'm pretty sure I still have the old one if you want it with the replacement internals.

 

Check out Cole-Hersee web site. They very well may have one. I checked on their web site but having difficulty down loading their catalog. Keeps kicking over to the wrong program and won't let me view it...

 

I was real sure I had run across that part in a Napa parts book when I was looking for a similar terminal for a brake press. switch. Napa or a Mom and Pop parts store should have those.

Alright, I "might" have some good news for this thread afterall. I just recieved a PM stating that the brake terminal is the same as the reverse terminal. I cannot say I tried it persay, BUT I did try the switch on my OBA system for the clutch. It fits snugly and will not pull back out easily. This terminal has the same color wires coming from it as seen in the picture above, and came from the car that I got my power steering brackets, pulleys, and OBA bracketry from. Best I can tell a GM A/C clutch switch will work perfectly for this. The only weird part is my terminal has a resistor going across the leads. Take this out and you should be good to go.

 

Likely not a resistor but a reverse-wired diode, to short out the inductive kick of the clutch windings turning off and protect the switch. Common on motor circuits and such.

The backup lights are a pure resistive load - no need for the diode there.

I figure I'll put a swtich on the dash for when I back up in the dark.

BUt if its not too hard, I'll wire them up right.

 

This plug looks like a GM alternator plug. It also looks like the plug that goes onto the brake line sending unit. I found what I think will work at www.rebel-wire.com for only $2.50. It is the GM backup light plug #GMBSW

I also had to order a new switch for my T14 and found it at www.vintagejeepparts for $14.00. Ask for Brad 888-503-5337.

 

The switch for a T-15 in a Jeep pickup, will work too (look up my truck on RockAuto.com - its switch is listed). Regular parts store item. Cross to a Standard NS20.
