Replacement seats??

    I know many of the purists among this crowd may cringe at this, but I'd like to find replacement seats for my '47 :shock: What I don't want to do is cut the rear fenderwells like so many I've seen in an attempt to fit a "longer" seat in there and/or provide more leg room. To be honest, I don't feel all that cramped in mine as it is, I just want better support from my seats. Sooooo, has anyone found a good seat with comparable dimensions to the stockers? I have no problems fabbing custom mounts, and will likely tie the mounts into the rollcage anyways, so I just need input on similar sized seats. Junkyard units are fine, just tell me what you've used. Thanks!!

    I think the stock seats from a late Kaiser or early AMC Jeep (say, '69 to '75) are quite comfortable. They should fit ok.

    Otherwise, check out your local pick-your-part for some good looking seats. Anything with buckets is a possibility.

    Agreed, I was just wondering if anyone had a certain seat already spec'd out with similar-to-stock base dimensions that won't require body work to fit and still leave adequate room around the steering wheel.

    A long while back someone posted a pic where they used Saturn buckets with the headrests removed. They were a bit taller than the stock lowbacks, but still looked nice without being "block the backseat" tall.

    My 5 has some that appear to be from a 67-69 GM F-body, not for sure, but they look nice and are comforatble.

    mid 70s Toyota buckets with headrests used to be in mine
    swapped 'em out 3 years ago for some freebie Freightliner bucket seats from a motorhome chasis
    possibilities are endless really
    oh, I still get belly rub from the steering wheel
