I am preparing to do mount replacements front to rear. I do not have the ability to remove the fiberglass tub due to space. I have never done it before but have looked at the shop manual, reviewed kits available and read what I could find on the forums. Seems not to difficult. However, is there anything about this process that I might want to know up front to be prepared for, and is there a good way to do this function that makes it easier that is not necessarily obvious? I know this may be a broad question but any help would be appreciated, I don't want to be at this all summer but have to wait for relatively good weather before I can get this done. Thanks.

    A couple of questions-

Does the fiberglass tub use the stock mounting locations?

Is there a body lift involved?

What exactly is it you're replacing? & Why? The frame mount brackets? Spacers?

    Got any pics?

Thanks for the questions. I am doing the spacers and from what I can tell based on the pictures in the parts and service manuals, it appears the PO did use the original frame mounts. There is a fair lean to the pax side, particularly the rear, and the ones I looked at are pretty squished. A couple appear to have cracks in the rubber. I want to replace the spacers and then follow up with the shocks. I am pretty certain it does not have a lift kit in it. It measures about 8-10 inches from the ground to the bottom of the tub behind the drivers seat, directly forward of the rear wheel. I say 8-10 again because of the lean, it is lower on the drivers side, higher on the pax.

Buy a section of rubber or poly body mounting, cut to size

I had the same problem even with new mounts. Turns out it's a common situation with the early Jeeps. It was suggested to me by member "Tim", that the factory fix was to lower the pass. side by installing a 3/8" thick shim the width of the spring, between the spring and the axle pad. This lower the high side to more or less level it out. Mine's been much better, (not perfect) since I did the installation. From what I gather, even changing springs does not remove the problem. Do the mounts anyway, can't hurt.
