A friend is putting disks on his '70 CJ5, and offered me the 10" brakes he is taking off. My '63 CJ5 has 9" brakes. Would it be a direct bolt-on replacement to put the 10" brakes on my Jeep?

The only caution is that parts for 10" brakes are way more expensive then 11" ones. If they are in good shape and are runnable wheel cylinders, shoes and drums then grab them. If all you are getting is a set of backing plates that need all new parts then you should just go with 11" ones.
