I get a measurement of approximately 16" from the crossmember just behind the rear axle to the rearmost crossmember. Those of you that converted to rear tanks what would be the lenght of it and skid plate? Or how much am I gonna have to cut off it to make it work on the 2A.

If the 2a frame is the same as a 5 frame, I used a cut down Xj tank from a 89'. After having it purged, I cut 4.75 inches from it and re welded it back together and it fit like a glove in between the frame rails and between the x members.

I wish I did, was on a previous jeep, but what Im doing now is mounting a 93' YJ poly tank in the bed area, I can show you that.....

The XJ tank isnt a bad one, it netted around 16g when done and not hard to do. Hardest part is finding a steel tank from an XJ and finding someone to purge it (best bet is the 84 to 89 cherokee). When I welded it I used a few magnets on level garage floor to line it up and then started tacking it in place.

After I had it exactly where I wanted it I used a low heat, high line speed to run horseshoe bead around it. To make sure all the leaks got filled (there were many) I put about 2 cups of baby powder in it and duct taped my air compressor nosel to the filler neck then blew air into it.

edit: the YJ tank if you go my new route (wheeler only) the 20g tank fits perfectly in between the fender wells and with a couple of stock straps upside down in comparison to normal, it mounts well to the floor, Ill sheet it in when the tub is finally in place.
