I was wondering about making my rear bumper since I came back from tellico. I saw some really nice ones on the trip over the week end , joe's really sticks out in my mind. Then it hit me yesterday at work,so I started to scetch it out. I worked on it last nite to or 3 more times changing things for ease of building or genral improvments.Ok heres what I came up with , a triangle shaped bumper with teardrop shaped d ring holders that are gusets for the bumper with recessed holes for the mounting bolts so it would slide off of stuff easly.I also designed a way to mount the tire carrier and be able to remove it and every thing stays flush. It looks really good on paper , Ill make a quik drawing in paint shop tonight to show yall. I have a question for yall now, should I incorperate a 2" hitch? I would have to modify it and move the pin the the bottom quater of it so I could mount it flush as posible .

go for a 2" hitch. then you have yet another place to attach for a rear pull.

    Ya...you'll want a 2" receiver.

    How's the tire carrier mount?

Well my 15 minute computer drawing is lacking alot that its paper brothen has. I plan on welding 2 three quater nuts into the top of it. If I had a scanner I could post my paper copy and it would make better since

Sounds pretty good! Just remember you can only pull as good as it is mounted into the frame. Make sure you have more than 2 points of attachment. That is one of my future projects to do. I need to look at the original draw bar on mine and see how I can incoperate a bumper into it. I was underneith looking at how it is mounted and it is bolted to the frame in 4 places and looks pretty strong for the jeep. I am thinking of using formed steel chanel that is curved instead of square edged chanel steel. Then mount a reciver box under it for a pull point but have it flush with the bumper so it can still be pushed with it. I want it to stick out enought to protect the rear lights and bed. Mark
