Not too bad for shooting and driving. I like how the leaf springs keep the realistic effect, not like the unlimited travel buggies.

leaf sprung is definately a dis advantage against the coil, linked rigs ,I entered in a small comp and took last . I took last but I did not break and I had so much fun . I love watching the suspension work ,it hops, binds and watching the shackles is a kick .here couple of pics last one is a vid.

Steve, I'd like to build a 1/10th scale RC CJ5 in metal like you've done here. I am amazed at the work you've done in this thread. I think I could figure out most of he body, except the hood. Been lurking in some of the forums, but I don't see my answer. Do you have any pointers on how I'd form a CJ5 hood?

it's gunna be hard....aflatty is way easier .Experiment with alum sheet till you get the angle bend equal ,that will take the most time . if its thicker material you could aneal it to make it softer , but just start with some light stuff. the hood bump would be pretty easy cut cut a seperate pieces and epoxy that to the flat hood . the rounded CJ hood edge will be hard to make it alum though,,,,,,,if it was steel then you might weld some round stock to the hood and back gring it . if I have some time .I'll give it a try.

Jay I did not build the body ,but the way the builder made it and rivited the panels is pretty dam cool . with my rough dimentions youd have a starting point. I belive Parma used to make a CJ8 body in lexan search the web . then you could just cut that hood off and use that on your metal body ,,,,,,,,,kinda like a glass hood !!!!!....they also make wrangler bodys galore but they are ,,,,well ,,,,,,,,,ugly .

working light on the way ....
I can't sink them in since the grill, fenders and body all come together there and cutting that spot is not going to be clean ..
be honest Like them? or do they look bad.

I like the ones on the stinger. The other 2, not so much. If you could get them in the grill, then, yes. Maybe some colored discs where the headlights would be, like on a race JEEP?

I agree with wheelie. Now if you had some trim rings for the grill it might look better.

Yes, I think of your little lights the same way you think of my fender flares in the rear. I like the ones on the stinger a lot and they look good. Here is somthing to think about steve...At walmart, in the section of automotive where they have the bling for inside your car like the chrome, 3 way cigarette lighters and such are some license plate lights. They are a few bucks for a pair of them and they are single LED bulbs. They are threaded so you could drill two small holes and use a nut to keep them in place. And they are bright little suckers. Or you can get you some of those mini flash lights, take them apart and WALA!!! You got your bulb, light bucket and lens.

Also Steve (sorry but now you got my creative juices flowing) noticed on my boys RC jeep that a set of headlights like these would be AWSOME!!!

Was also thinking that you could get two of the LED bulbs for mag lights (walmart a few bucks) and sink those into the grill with a small drill hole then solder some wires to it and there ya go. They even have a small chrome ring around the outside.

the only prob is 4 pieces of rig all come together right in THAT spot I need to hog out for the light bucket .Ill stare at it some more .....

I also installed a new 27 turn /10 tooth pinion motor and pulled out the old dump truck 55 turn/18 pinion .the new motor provises even more torque low AND high speed , at full throttle off the line ,,,,, it lifts the front passenger wheel and carries it ,torque twist is fun .

Thats awesome right there. The dollar store has mini flash lights that have the outter chrome cap that goes over the end of the flashlight so you could actually glue or whatever, the cap to the front and that will contain the rest of the light that way no holes will be needed...or big ones anyways.

yes , peer pressure sucks, this took a long time and Pat a uni bit was the ticket for these holes. had to grind a ugly hole in the flat fender to make room for the buckets . pretty stressful day with the drill and dremel tools
