a few years ago my buddy gave me this . His dad hand built it some 40 years ago ,and he used to play with it when he was little ,,,and it was decided that it need to live at my house.

well ,it did not take long before I asked if it was ok to change a few things and ended up with this. linked/junk shocks and no real axle just a straight pipe on some 80s rims/tires and a roll cage .

I was happy with it and stayed on the shelf looking good till........... WUZE(Darn you!!!) showed us those rc crawlers.well the bug bit me and now this is where I stand. lockers, leaf springs and real shackles all around.all metal parts so far, including driveshafts .and it all works well ,mounted on the alum frame . this is all just mocked up so far ,,,,lots of fine tuning to do and I need to buy a low profile trans and figure out shocks , battery, reciever, speed control ,and a steering servo under the hood and electrics under the seats. I will have to cut it to mount the trans but I can sort of hide it under a tranny tunnel.

Come on guys, stop posting this stuff! So most importantly, what did you use to make the leaf springs, or did you buy them?

oops, I did not mention that ,the axles are Tamyia Little Gear 4x4 truck and that came linked but I really wanted to keep this stock looking even if it did not twist crazy , the leaf springs are also off a Tamyia RC a Mountainieer .they come with a huge leaf pack I took them apart and just run the main leaf till all the weight gets added.

Very cool. I have the same axles under my buggy. I want to pull it apart and use the components to build something more scale, with leaf springs.

for a couple of bucks more....... I can run this transfer case and then put the electric motor and tranny UNDER the hood ..a driveshaft will transfer power from under the motor assembly to the T/C [IMG]

Ray, the driveshafts telescope but the pto from motor to T case will be solid no slip universal joints.
