rancho lift?

    i saw an add for 1 inch rancho leafs anyone heard of those and are they worth getting im about to put on power steering and want a little lift before i do so i can run like 32's they come with Set of Rancho 1 inch lift springs with degree shims and u bolts. Gives one inch of lift, fit 32's or do a spring over and fit 33's possibly 35's $160 firm

    I had Rancho springs on my jeep when I got it, it felt like I was riding around in a tank. SO STIFF. I hated them.

    Do a search for 1" lift or something along those lines and you'll find a ton of info. Also you can run 33's/34's with just a 2.5 sua lift and some shackles.

    I am running 2.5 lift springs by rancho on a spring over set up, I accually found them to ride quite smooth also quite flexy. But my jeep came out rather large so I would recomend runnin 2.5s sua for stbility and ride performance.

    I have the 1" Ranchos - had them on my 5 and plan to put them on my 6. I was always happy with the ride, much better than the stock flat springs I replaced.

    I have a set of the 1" Ranchos on Lil Blue. Not on the road yet but the height clears 32" tires easily.

    For the money I would try to go with a 2-1/2" lift if you are wanting to run 32's or 33's. The SOA will give you around 5" of lift just on stock springs and you can clear 35's, but this is not something I would recommend unless you have some good fab knowledge and especially if you are going to be driving it on the road. I would only go with a 1" if I was kinda trying to keep a semi-stock appearance. If you are only wanting to get new springs, I guess you could go with it though and you should still clear the 32's. Not real sure cause I haven't dealt with the 1" yet.

    I've got Rancho 2 1/2" on the CJ-5. They are old and well worn in but they work good. Look at my avatar and you'll see how well they flex. The left rear tire is still on the ground by the way. They ride pretty well too. Nickmil

    for the price of one sixty for shocks shims and springs should i just hold out and go to 2.5

    Just IMHO, but why lift it higher than you need? If 1" clears the tires you want, I'd keep it lower.

    For the money, if you are only wanting some new springs to kinda keep the stock look but still clear 32's, just go with the 1". The 2-1/2" kit isn't really much more clearance, its just the lift that I prefer personally. Come to think of it, I don't really know why.

    What condition are your shackles in?

    IMHO shackles are a common "overkill" area...I ran for years on some just made up from 1" x 1/4" flat stock. Only replaced the fronts because I wanted towbar shackles.

    :? If your stock shackles are in good shape, use them. I wouldn't use any lift shackles until you see how much tire clearance you have. If you need a little extra after you get everything installed, then get some new shackles with a little bit of lift. Just don't go to big with the lift shackles. Only go with another 1" if you need it.

    Where did you find this lift for $160 I have been looking for a while and haven't found anything much under 300. I to am considering a build close to yours. Thanks. And keep it as low as you can for the tires. Extra height if you don't need it will just bring problems.

    one more voice in on this.

    i really like my 1" ranchos. i find them very smooth. with 9000x rancho shocks i can get just about any stiffness i need on or off road. i debated a long time about the getting either the 5000's or the 9000s. and finally went with the 9000s. quite happy with them and the springs.

    i swapped out my stock shackles which were in bad shape for some 3/4" m.o.r.e. shackles. liked em but didn't want that much lift since i am only running 31" tires and i felt like my center of gravity was now too high. also it changed my caster too much to easily correct. went back to heavy duty stock length shackles. handles much better and feels much more stable.
