Rack and pinion steering in a willys

My take on R&P systems is they are lighter than a sector box arrangement, can be made slightly more precise with fewer linkage pieces, and recently-can be electrical powered. Are they as strong as a Saginaw? No experience with them on Jeeps, but I have very serious doubts and they wear out a LOT faster. I replaced several in Chrysler products that were not in 4x4's and still didn't make 60k miles. I also do not think mounting will be as easy as a Saginaw. Seems like it would be a lot of extra fabrication work for no gain in performance and probably a lot more maintenance.
