    All,
Not my Jeep, but one's local Jeep, 46CJ2A
    Here's their question
"i keep playing with the idea of keeping the drive train on the 46 cj2a but will need an engine. given the right bellhousing would any of the buick v6 engine's work? say one out of a supercharged LeSabre."
I gave them links to here, the dauntless information, Novak sites, but I personally can't straight up answer their question because it's something that I haven't heavily researched.
I'd assume they would need an adapter for the T90 to the LeSabre bell, but what say ye?
I told him I would forward him all of your responses.
    TIA!!

The buicks bellhosunig will be for a front wheel drive vehicle, it will not work.

I've seen it done with FWD Buicks, but a RWD Buick engine is a much easier swap to do.

You will also need an adapter for the Buick bellhousing to mate up to the T-90, and a long input shaft from a Willys truck or wagon witht he inline six. The 4-cylinder input shaft is too short to reach the V-6.

Ah yes, the FWD Buick Unicorn! ;)

I have a theory in my head how to combine an injected FWD 3.8 top end with a RWD block so it will work with existing Dauntless trans adapters. From my research, there is a Buick engineering rumor that the first 1984 FWD 3.8's used RWD heads off the shelf thus the intake and injection system "theoretically" bolts up to a RWD block. Of course, your throttle body would face the cowl so you would have to adapt to that.

Theory need a human eye verification of course ;)

Jon, don't tell me you're going to be swapping the L Head!
And thanks guys, I forwarded him that info. I don't know if you guys remember but I almost snagged a 46 2A for $450, complete less engine, well I passed. This guy got it and now he's trying to decide on the drive train. Was going to use an 2.5/AX5/NP?NV? I think I'm convincing him to keep the T90/D18 it had in it.

Nah, I could never change out Putt Putt -- I just buy another Jeep for a test mule. :D

The 1984 experiment could be done on the stand -- but I have two unfinished experiments already. ( See sig )

You can use a FWD motor, but the bell pattern is 60* V6 vs BOP. A bell housing from a 1986 4 cyl CJ7 will be a external slave bell that will bolt to the FWD motor (60* pattern). You can then use the T4 or T5... or adapt to another trans, however they (T4, T5) are not a strong tranny.

I actually have a 60* external slave bell I bought when I was planning to tinker with the FWD swap, but that was before I stumbled on the CJ5 chassis I used.

I never got into whether you would need to machine the bell for a pilot bushing though etc...
