Thanks for all the comments. I am still going thru all the information found in the Search.

Like 42cj2a said, it's a Model 50. Didn't know that until I took the pictures of it the other day. I used it dragging logs around my hill when we built the new house about 12 years ago. Worked like a champ but had to replace the U joints a couple of times.

Still studying the diagrams. Does dual output mean it can work front and back? Growing up in the mountains of N GA, I can remember a sawmill that used an old Willys to run the saw. Big wide belt ran off the rear of the Willys.

That's the one I have. Only works in my CJ because I have the T-98 and Warn OD as well. The biggest problem I have with it is it leaks through the shifters. It's just sealed with some felt, so I can't see how it ever sealed very well. Does yours leak?

None of mine are installed in anything yet, so I can't help you on the oil leak, but perhaps a new felt and a shifter boot may help. I've been after the 50 and or 51 so I bought these to use in the event I was ever able to trade. I do have a Spicer Rear output PTO installed in my 48CJ2A with a rear PTO gearbox, that I found on this very web site. I need to make a new drive shaft and I'm also in search of a rear belt drive, to complete the Farm Jeep. I purchased a Koenig King Winch complete with mount and fairlead for a CJ2A and the Ramsey PT-1 and the pto collection exploded from there.

Any idea where to get a felt and shifter boot?

As far as the driveshaft goes, I had a YJ front driveshaft shortened for mine. To adapt it to the PTO flanges, I found a conversion Yoke for a Nissan or Toyota that was close on the bolt pattern, and fit the U-joint. I took it to a machine shop to have it modified to fit. Seems to work just fine though I haven't actually hooked up an implement yet.

Herm might have something for the felt although we are probably on our own there: http://www.hermtheoverdriveguy.com/index.htm

Northstar shows a boot 666610 (little pricey): http://www.northstarwillys.com/pto.htm

    Walcks shows a boot 640625 (better): http://www.walcks4wd.com/cj2a/cj2a_01.html#transfer

I have an important training requirement I have to complete for work which will take a couple weeks. Once done, I intend to rebuild each pto and photo/document the steps for my web site possibly over the winter months.

I have picked up a few joints from ebay and the Willys message boards, but have yet to mock anything up. Still collecting until I feel I have enough to complete one drive line.

Should be standard Spicer U-joints. Six States Distributing, Potter-Webster, etc. should stock them, most Spicer dealers can get them. I get my joints and yokes from Six States. I also use them on steering conversions. Nickmil.

Here's a few pics, I used 1/4" x 1" strap bent into a "U" shape and added pins for the clutch, then welded to a modified piece(slot cut in it) and it pivots on the original pivot pin. Added a lever to disconnect it and a spring to prevent it for rattling free. Works like a charm. I need to add a drum brake so it doesn't backlash the cable when I pull the lever.

Do PTO devices on cjs/jeeps/cars/whatever work the same as they do on say a farm tractor?

I only use my winch when the transfer case is in neutral, not sure if it can be used when tranfercase is in gear? Afraid to try it. Anybody else?

You can engage the PTO at any time, doesn't matter if the transfercase is in Neutral, high or low. Not a real good idea to drive down the road with the PTO stafts spinning at high speed (they usually aren't balanced for that), but you can do it.
