Not sure if this is in the right forum, but does anyone have any knowledge about this winch? I got it with a pile of parts and it was originally attached to a M38. It has a "MM2" cast into the gear box and I thought it would be a Mile Marker, but I can't find anything resembling this winch on-line when I query it.

Never posted a URL pic, so I'm not sure it will come through, (I'm a little challenged!!!) but we'll give it a try.

    Pretty old.
Braden made a lot of "M" series winches so...
Maybe an early type of Braden but I don't think so.
Braden numbers were always stamped onto a flat area near the top of each winch.

Braden also made winches for Allstate.
But here again this does not look like any Allstate winches that I've seen.

Generally speaking the "raised numbers" only apply to the casting part number.

See if you can find any letters or numbers stamped into it anywhere. It seems it ought to have a name cast on it somewhere.

It could be home made. I have one that is electric (24VDC) Military bomb winch motor. I have run it on 12VDC. It was on my Tux when I bought it. Who ever made it was no slouch.

The brake side looks kinda koeniggy? Almost like some fabbed the framework on the brake side. Koenig made those exposed ones for industrial use-wreckers and skidders and such
