Power Steering, Pump Freezing Up

    I noticed the power steering pump locks up when I get to either end of the steering range. The pump completely freezes. I have a Saginaw conversion. I seem to remember the old gear boxes struggling at the extents of their range but this seems excessive. Seems to work fine otherwise. Thanks.

    It sounds like maybe the belt is slipping before the pump can build up enough pressure to overcome the bypass?

    Old belts not that tight so that could be. I'll check it out. Thanks.

    If belt doesn't fix, flush system.
    I like the v-belts with the groves on bottom side,they seem to grip better.
