I just pulled what I believe is a Power Lok unit out of mothballs. I bought it quite some time ago and don't remember what it was supposed to fit. I have been searching for information on it and the only "hit" I have found so far was on a site that showed the number might be for a Volvo Dana 30. It is hard to see the numbers in the picture but they are " 12-17-91 26421 X " It has 10 bolt holes for the ring gear. It has 27 splines. I am hoping that it would work in my 79 Dana 30 that is going into my CJ6.

Found this... might be exactly what you've already seen, though...

12-17-91 looks like date of manufacture to me

Might get Jim's or Ken's attention if you post in the ECJ5 forum. Or send a PM to both.

That was what I found. Thanks for looking. I appreciate it.

I don't know that many people by first name on here. Heck, I forget people's first names that I know in person. I am pretty sure I can call you Tim though.

Thank you. That is good news since I plan to run 3.73's. Should it be a direct bolt in unit? I ask because of the Volvo connection I found on the web.

If it wasn't for the kid in Bonney Lake I wouldn't even be working on this CJ6. And, I am pretty sure I was the fatter kid when I was up there. Thank you all. I am bringing two Dana 30's, one power lok, and all of my lunch money to a real mechanic to eventually end up with a 79 D30 with the power lok and 3.73's.

The Volvo 1031 cases are interchangeable with Dana 30s, as far as my research has found. If the numbers are matching Volvo parts, you should be good to go.

The Volvo rears were sort of a hybrid of the Dana 27 and 30, but with massive shafts.

I brought the power lok and Dana 30's to my mechanic. I was thinking now would be a good time for him to service the power lok. I thought it would be easy to find a "kit" but it seems that it isn't that easy to find if I don't know what I need. Should this work...?

Yes that's a great price on the OEM clutch disks.
I suggest you take it apart first to make sure it needs the new clutch plates.

Thanks very much Oldtime. I am going to order a set just to have them. If the mechanic doesn't need them, they can sit on a shelf until I do need them. I really don't know anything about the power lok internals, but I guess I should probably start learning.

Those clutch disks often sell for $120 a set and these will fit all D25, D27 or D30 powr loks.
I may need another set myself.
