Powder Coating

I've read alittle bit about the powder coating systems by Eastwood company. Does anyone have any experience with these systems? Is it worth the money? Is it as simple as it looks to be?


Has anyone powder coated an entire body? I know its not a typical finish, but a jeep could pull off the lack of gloss.

Jeeper 2 doors down from me did the entire front group, w/s frame, fenders, hood, grille, bright red, looks good
I did my roll bar/cage, draw bar, tow bar, hood catches, front bumper in gloss black, looks good also

 

What if there is body filler/fiberglass on the body? Would the powder not cling to it? My tub has some bondo and resin in places.

Think it might be kinda cool if it could work.

 

nope.....won't work with any fillers to my knowlege
my parts were put in oven and baked

I read in a painting book at Books-a-Million, I can't remember the title of the book, that for larger components, frames etc, that will not fit into an oven, that multiple heat lamps can be used. While it takes longer, it will cure the powder.

Does anyone know if this is true?

 

i thought about powerder coating my frame but i decided against it. now if i replace my body with one that does not need bondo or anything like that i will make the short trip over to the powder coat guy and have him do my entire body and then bake it in his HUGE ovens.

 

Just in case anyone else wanted to know the answer to my question. I emailed Eastwood and they said that powder coating will not work on regular body fillers but they gave me to part numbers for 'metal to metal' fillers that it will work on. Also, curing lamps can be used, though they take much longer.
