    Hello,
My 1976 CJ5 is in the shop and getting ready for paint. It's got stock Firecracker Red paint, which is original and so faded it looks pink.

I'm thinking of switching over to a shade of green OR a desert sand. I lean more towards the woodsy/military/desert shades.

Please post of pic of your green Jeep and the paint code info (if you have it) so I can pick a sweet new stock color.

    Thanks!

My green is a 1985 AMC Eagle color, Medium Green Metallic 5B.
It's a factory AMC color, but was never a Jeep color. It should have been a Jeep color ;) :D

Now, Duke, to be fair, you can update your own info.......

I really like the look on your setup; can't seem to place the "stock" wheels and suspension, though....... Heh-heh!!

If my 61 didn't already have suspension and new tires on fresh powdercoat, I'd sure look twice at what you have! Maybe even a green paint to cover the 45 year old "red"............

Pancakes? You bet. MMMmmmm! But usually with maple syrup or something equally tasty. Long as it ain't green! Or on my head.

If the suspension is stock, I just may go with those wheels on the 70. Sure like the look! (would they fit over 11 inchers?) And for green, I thought I liked the look of a mid-sixties green in an ad showing a JEEP coming through the dunes and beach grass. Now, seeing another shot of Lynn's rig, well, good thing I got lots of time.......

I was wondering what color green that was on yours. I wonder what that would look like with bright orange cage and tube work.

The color is even better in person. The metallic/small metal flake is subtle. Depending on the light, it can look either silver or gold. I think you'll really like it.

Back about 1993 or 1994, I saw a Jeep painted this color at a local 4WD shop. I know the shop owner so I stopped in to see him. He was selling the Jeep for a customer. We checked the paint code from a bottle of touch-up the guy had. I wrote the code down and saved it. A few years later, when my rig was finally ready for paint (1997), there was no question as to what color I was going with. I discussed it with my painter, looked it up in one of his books, that's how we determined the year for the original application. I did have him shoot a clearcoat over it which has served me pretty well. I have lots of scratches now, almost 10 years later... but most are only in the clearcoat and I think would buff out if I took the time to do it. Maybe later this summer, after the Tioga camping trip next weekend. I think my wife would like to see it cleaned up and shiney again with most of the scratches removed... at least for the summer and evening topless trips to the ice cream shoppe ;) :D
Good luck, looking forward to your pics!! :)

EDIT: here a a few pics from a few weeks ago. Cloudy day, bad angle, plaid shirt reflection ;)... but my intent was to focus on the footman loop and not the paint...

Aw you can do it it's all in the prep work jeeps are hard to paint cause it's hard to keep a wet edge when you do bottom, inside, ext, fenders, hood, grill and tail gate all in one shot while it's all apart.
