Thought I would use POR15 on my frame. Have had several people recommend it. Anybody here used it before? Any pointers or words of wisdom will be appreciated.

I'm getting ready to put it on the underside of my GPW tub & chimed in here mainly to see what the other guys say. A guy here at work did the frame on his Chevelle & really liked it. He said to be sure to wear rubber gloves, long sleeves, & cover any other body parts that you need "presentable" as the stuff does not come off. It has to wear off, according to him.

    I used it.

Top coating the base coat is tricky, or get the binding agent or whatever they have so you can topcoat it a couple days after the basecoat. It's all on Sandhill's truck frame now.

McRuff just bought the Eastwood stuff, and I plan to if I continue with the '58...

I used POR on the Bantam, and it's holding up well. Oxidizes, but no rust. Just a pickier application than the Eastwood is supposed to be.

As others have said POR15 is difficult to work with and really does oxidize if you don't top coat it. It does, however, work very well. I plan to try Eastwoods product next time. If you get the POR15, buy it in small containers if you can't use a large one all at one time, it doesn't store well.

Actually, what's oxidizing for me is the Chassis Black topcoat.

I'm going to use RustBullet. I don't have any experience with the others, but it sounded simplest and, if you beleive their self promoting hype, very protective. I've got a to strip a little of the overspray and should have the frame done by this weekend.

I've tried out the "Rust Bullet" on my CJ-7 and it seems to be working well. At this point I plan to use it on the CJ-6 that I'm rebuilding.

Does Rust Bullet only come in silver? All of the pics on their site show the finished product in silver.

The pigment has to be metal for the seal to be waterproof. The resin is called MCU - moisture cured urethane - and it will draw the moisture out of the existing rust. The metallic pigment forms a non-porous barrier to further moisture penetration, as I understand it. They could use other colors, but it wouldn't be as effective. Read the tip sheet on the nomorerust.com link above.
