OK, so I promised to post pictures of the nose swap on the CJ6. I will post a few, but my tractor would not start so its still iside its winter home until I can get the old Yardman running. Anyone want to buy an old Yardman with mower deck, snowblower and 3 Pt. rear??

I can see the picture of the CJ6 looking cool like that, but the Commando needs it as well. CJ fenders and Commando fenders are different at the bottom by the rocker. At minimum I see you putting the Commando's fenders back on it and just use the CJ5's grille and hood like you did on the CJ6.

Myself, I'd put the Commando back to stock and track down another Commando hood and grille for the CJ6 so both had them.

The green Commando is getting its rockers cut off anyways, to do a boat side. They look better in the picture that what they are. The two Jeepster / Commando fenders that came with the green one are not worth fixing. But I do have extra early five fenders. Its going to end up being a trail rig, once I find a TH350 BPO pattern. My other JC will remain stock, with help from the green one. This is my stock 71 JC.

Why are you looking for a TH350? The Commandos used the TH400 with the D20 on the backside. I would think a 400/D20 would be easier to find, and everything would bolt up as original behind a Dauntless.
Either way, nice score on a solid looking Jeepster!

Donny, I want to use the Dauntless and with the TH350, I will be soaking up less of that engines horse power with the 350. 400's are great tranny's but I want to get as much out of the motor, without going V8. Some will disagree with my assessment, but that's what I am sticking with. I have a TH350 in another CJ6 and I like it a lot for what it does. Besides my argument, I don't know anyone else running a 350 behind a Dauntless, so I think it has some cool factor behind it. What do you think ??

With a name like commanlerwrangdo, I would have thought that you would be more open to diversity. :D LMAO The one you see in the pictures with the full hard top, is going to remain as stock as I can keep her. The one you see with the half top, is not really suited for a resto. I actually bought that to get doors, front glass, seat etc. ended up getting two running Dauntless motors and a bunch of other stuff. :bananatool:Now I have enough to complete the stock one and enough to build something different with. When I finish up my CJ-6 (in picture) I will probably paint up two nose sections, one with JC nose and one early five nose. Then I will really know which one I wanted to complete it. Here is another thought on that build, I have a nice, compete hard top off of another CJ-6. Wouldn't that be a completely cool build with a JC nose and a full hard top on a CJ-6 ????

There is a little less parsitic loss with a TH350 over a 400, but probably not too much difference, but a 350 is a smaller package. My comments related to the simplicity of the "stock" Commando setup is fairly easy to still find without buying trans to t/c adapters, making the package simple and inexpensive, reletively speaking. The Jeep version of the Th400 had a unique output spline on the trans, and related input to the D20, so don't try to mix and match these parts without some research.
If you're looking to save a little horsepower, and possibly gain some mileage, consider a TH200R4, especially from an '86 or '87 GM. Even the Buick G National used this trans, and with 4 speeds and a lockup converter, its roughly the same size package as a TH350. Win, win, win. You can run low gears and still have an overdrive top gear for the road.

Donny, never thought about that one. How hard would that be to find ?? Will have to research that. (y) Thanks for the idea, like I need more ideas floating around in my limited thought process. :worry:

The long thought extinct "Jeemando", seldom seen in this part of the country.
I like that looks like a good deal and Interesting use of assembling different parts.
    This is some interesting engineering.
I still need to find a good project a good price I can just drive while I work on my other Jeep projects.

I promise this time I won't disassemble it until the other projects are done.
