Pedals Too High

So I am making great progress in sorting through my 72's issues. The next big one is the pedal height. Both the brake and clutch pedal are even, but 9.5" off the floor. While I understand you want the brake pedal higher than the gas pedal, this is ridiculous. I can sort of deal with it, but my wife cannot.

So, how can I safely lower both the brake and clutch pedals?

Of course I have tried to educate myself on this through online research before asking here, but I am stumped. I have attached a few pics. Not sure if they are helpful or not. And I know one of the bolts holding the assembly is loose, and it is missing another bolt, but I am not sure that that effects the height problem. I will get those bolts taken care of ASAP. And yes, the wiring need a little grooming!

    Any guidance appreciated. Thanks,

Measuring my '75, it's about 8" from the face of the brake pedal to the floor, and 6.5" for the clutch. I had never noticed that the pedals were too high, but I'm 5'9" with a long waist and 29" inseam. Of course, I have a steel tub and mechanical clutch linkage, no cable. The suspended pedal and cable is a '72-only thing.

There's probably a stop for the clutch pedal that you can move downward. This would be fine as long as you adjust the nut so that it releases completely, and there's enough travel. Again, this is a '72-only thing, and I don't have pics or diagrams. However, I think that Jim (jpflat2a) posted pictures of the original and retrofitted (with a bellcrank) '72 linkage - you doulc search for those.
