    And just how would that help anything? :) They have engines, radiators, and radiator caps too.

    Just more modern. Aftermarket support. Power steering. Disk brakes. It was a fun time, but man, back to the garage i go.
    At least i got a pic of it out and about

    Just so you guys could sleep tonight, I ran out and checked oil on the dipstick. just black oil. no watered down appearance to it at all. I looked in the radiator and the coolant was right to where it's supposed to be just a fuzz above the fins

    I don't know any modern vehicle that has aftermarket support as good as an early jeep.

    Might want to look at the TJ and JK stuff. Literally 100 to 1 for the support of an early CJ.

    How about sixty years from now?:D Note that by 'aftermarket' I mean all sources, not only dealership.

    Seriously... I've tried getting "modern" dealer parts, waited two weeks, then got the wrong stuff, or been told it's discontinued or ten times the money what a local shop would fabricate it for etc etc.

    My dad's late model Dodge sat in a dealership lot for over a month "waiting for parts." Finally he had it towed.

    My classics, even back to the 1920's, I click "buy now" and anything I need is at my door in 48 hours. It's downright scary.

    And WAAAY cheaper than modern stuff.

    Never had any problem getting what I need for my older Jeeps.

    well I found the culprit. went out to drive the jeep to work today and found the gauge still pegged! almost 2 days later, and that Fhead is still HOT!

    I think I will just hook up an aftermarket one. I hate to do it, and have more clutter attached ot the dash, but I don't want to disassemble the unit and figure out how and why it isn't working properly.

    Prestolite, ca emissions 1971
    I ordered some from ebay and amazon and after receiving delco parts worked with local parts store ordering points and matching them up, Ultimately bought a set that was "close" and still had to file the adjustment slot to get enough throw to get correct dwell. It used to be simple, consolidation parts is making it difficult.
    p.s. I'm trying to keep this survivor original, and may have to swap out the prestolite some day.
