Overdrive questions

    The rear shock was mounted by the PO and we thought the samething that it was pretty goofy looking...and no we have not had it on the road yet so I'm not how it drives yet

    I suggest you keep the axles you have, for now.

    See how it runs and drives before you decide anything. The axles you showed are later style flanged 44, which is different from the "2-piece" or "tapered" 44. The tapered 44 has little value except as a replacement axle for a Jeep like yours, so you can probably find used replacements cheap if you need them.

    The M20 is ok for the usage you describe. The main issue is the spring-over. Getting the on-pavement behavior right with a spring-over conversion is ... tricky. If it drives ok, then don't worry - be happy - and drive it. If it feels dangerous at highway speed, then think about converting it back to spring-under.

    Also, determine what your axle gear ratio is. Here's how to identify the ratio of the M20: http://jeeptech.com/axle/amc20.html Probably code A, narrow track open 3.54 ratio.
