Looking for a set of original side steps in reasonable condition.
I have the original brackets to them, but not the steps. I had bought reproduction ones for my 3A, modified the brackets to fit, then I found a set of original ones for a CJ5 and swapped out the steps.
Believe it or not, MDJuan is making them and they look right: MD Juan CJ Steps
Have you looked at earlier discussion about steps? Typically they are removed and discarded because they easily get damaged on the trail.
Yes, but still wanting to find a set.
if original is not a concern, these look the same: Rugged Ridge 12025.26 Side Step Fits 46-71 CJ-3B CJ3 CJ5 CJ6 Willys | eBay
He wants the original style steps with the diamond pattern and I don't blame him. Originality is part of the romance of these old trucks. As I said previously, they are being made, albeit by MDJuan. That company does screw up plenty of things, but the review on the steps has been largely positive. Mickey, you have very little to lose in at least trying them.
Have a pass. side step in good shape , No repairs I see.
Saw some on my local CL a week ago, but they are gone now. I'll keep an eye out for them if they relist.
Some people don't know this but there is a left and a right. The support legs are not equal lengths. One support leg bolts into the hat channel and the other bolts through the floor. The bottom brace going over to the frame has an angle to it.
yep buddy's 55 jeep he's working on . had to weld nuts on inside of hat channels for the side steps
Yep if the hat channel has been replaced then this is necessary to stay normal.
Thanks. I appreciate it.
I got a set of reproduction from a friend that didn't like them, he bought a set of custom ones that look too far out for a 58 High hood. I didn't want to drill holes in my frame, so I welded so angle iron brackets to the supports that lined up with holes already in the frame. They look OK and original, and really do help old people ,like me , getting in and out of my Jeep. Painted them with Por 15, and they are shinny and tough. Good Luck
There is a cj5 at the corner of Hwy 84 and 281 that has a set on them. You can Google it and see it from street level.
I'm still looking if anyone has any.
These are two Jeep CJ parts guys here in Tucson.
Bought stuff from both.
Both prefer to be called, not texted.
Don't know if they have the steps but worth a shot.
Appreciate to referral but no luck so still looking.
One of those guys listed above had a set, but at $250. Ouch. Too much for my pocket book, so still looking. I did get a passenger side one at a very reasonable price from above, but still need a driver's side.
