    Guys

My 73 304 has the old metal filler cap. It doesnt have any kind of mesh pot scrubber material, but dies seem to have an annular baffle that might help entrain some oil mist. It does have the nipple to connect with air cleaner.

Would this have originallybhas some kind of oil mist catching pot scrubber material inside?

    Thanks
    Chilly

I like the steel cap so figure to stick with it. You saying there was some kind of filter mesh inside it? I dont see a means for retaining it, though I can think of ways to keep a stainless chore boy up in there.

are put together with some kind of foam filter integral to the cap. I don't know what your cap came with, but there's no reason why you can't add some mesh to your steel cap as long as it does not fall into the engine. Stainless or copper dish scrubbie should work ok.
