Filled up the Trans. and T-Case tonight. The seal for the output shaft was leaking where the seal seats in the PTO housing. Koenig PTO. There was no leakage around the shaft. Any ideas on a fix? Really do not want to remove the PTO. Have no problem removing the back half of the PTO. If I install a new seal could it leak too?

Gonna be hard to seal the leak around the outer part of the seal while there's oil in there.

I'd say drain, pull the cover & replace the seal with some squishy tube gasket stuff in the seal recess of the cover.

Might be a good time to freshen up the bearings.

That being said I'd pull the PTO & do it on the bench.

I went though the PTO, all the bearings where good, replaced all the seals. This is a new seal that is leaking.

I don't mean to insult you, but are you sure that you installed the seal correctly with the lip facing the right way?

No insult Uncle Vin. ( I do things wrong, and am willing to admit it.) draining fuid out today, will post pictures. Could not find a number for oil seal, had to run one down by seat size and shaft size.

The leak is where the pin is pointing, between the seal and the housing.

Popped the seal out and found gouge in the wall. Now how do I get this fixed. The seal is only 1/4 inch wide. If I could find a wider seal I think would fix the leak.

    RTV ?
Clean and fill with JB weld, then sand down?

The seal I used was a 471733, which is 1.874 seal OD x 1.00 shaft x 1/4 inch wide. My friend, a parts guy, ran down some other seal number.
    A 3/8 inch wide seal # 482522
7/16 inch seal, he gave me several #'s 410233 or 450233 or 470233 or 480233.

I would love to find one of the wider seals, which I think will help solve the problem. I looked on ebay and googled, with out much luck. Any ideas on where to source one of the wider seals?

Would he have to go to that trouble? How about just some permatex #2 smeared in there?

By the way, PTO units vent to the TC and don't build up any pressure, do they? Any leakage is due to gravity I think

Will probably do the JB Weld. A little concerned about sanding the JB Weld in the aluminum housing. If I sand a little to much, could make the housing out of round and cause a bigger problem. A wider seal would help solve part of the leak problem by bridging the gouge. The leak was gravity, no pressure and when the oil gets hotter it will flow better.

Steve, I'd be a little concerned about the thin metal lip at the bearing. It kind of looks as if a bearing had spun in the housing and ground out the bearing seat.

Honestly way more trouble that it's worth- a little silicone or gasket maker will fix your issue just fine.

I HATE leaks of any kind. if it were me I would do what Howard said. Small bead of gasket maker around the outer part of seal.

That lip is what is left from the machining. The bearing seat is larger that the seal seat. When they machined it, they left a little lip there.

Stop by a machine shop and a guy looked at it. Going to put a little JB Weld in the hole, just will fill it up a little. Then will use some Permatex Right Stuff around the seat, then press the seal in. Then fill T-Cases with oil and see what happens

    I have though about that
