    Hello everyone,

Can I use SAE 30R9 fuel rated hose with brass compression fittings to make the oil filter hose from the top inlet of the oil filter to the port just in front of the fuel pump on the engine block? It is a F-134 4 cylinder engine with the bracket for the fram style oil filter.

    Thank you for any suggestions,

    Lee

I don't know if that hose is rated for the needed pressure. However, if it were mine, I would go to my local hydraulics shop and have them make me a hose. Check the phone book - you should have a shop in your neighborhood.

    Thanks Tim,

I have read many of your previous post regarding useing steel brake lines for fuel lines. Do you think it would be ok to use flexible brake line to replace the flexible gas line from the fuel pump to the steel line?

I have a similar situation, with an old rubber hose that should be replaced. I've always wanted to put a metal line on there instead, as it seems like a higher quality fix. I've been waiting to do it, though, because I'm hoping to replace the motor someday soon.

Anyway, my vote would be for metal ... if that is possible.

No. Brake fluid is generally either silicone or glycol based. Brake hoses are not rated for fuel or any other petroleum products and will quickly break down and fail.

vote for HYD shop, i replaced one years ago. it was cheep and they used the barb fittings. just a matter of cut the hose to length, find the fittings and push them in.
