I'm working on my 2nd 70 CJ5 Dauntless 225 project. My first one was original intake and 2 barrel carb. It had all the power and torque I needed. The one I'm building now has the offenhauser dual port intake with an Edelbrock 1406 4 barrel. I've noted others with this setup. What are the advantages or gains, or is it overkill. Both were T90 geared 4:88.

The intake is good, the 1406 is too big for a 225.

Yes, 600 CFM is way to big. I had trouble getting the 1403 500 CFM to work and went with the Holley 390 and TA470s on 4BBL setups.

Thank you - my thoughts exactly. A 360 port cannot handle that much air. Why do it? Increase horsepower?

The 4BBL intake gives you some much better options IMOP. The 390 has smaller primaries and allows the secondaries to come into play as the fuel is needed. I had better fuel economy and power (also did a cam change) with the 4BBL setups. I have since moved on to EFI on the 225s for even better performance and it allows the rig to run in off camber better than all the others. I run the Offy 360 on one and a Kenne Bell Number One on the other. Both do well with the HEI required on the setup.
