Not really a "Jeep Trailer" question so much as a "Jeep Trailering" question

My apologies, but it seemed like the best place to pose this question.

I'm thinking about getting one of Harbor Freight's el cheapo 4X8" folding trailers (rated 1750 lbs) to haul my Gravely and a couple (just 2) attachments) around town, behind Percival. The jeep is bone stock, with 4.27s, and 3 speed transmission. The Gravely goodies weigh about 800 lbs, maybe pushing 1000 lbs including the weight of the trailer.

Has anyone pulled similar trailers and weights with their (stock, 72 HP) jeeps, and live to tell the tale? Highway an absolute no-no?

    Thanks in Advance-

    Eck

The trailer would be as good on the highway as a '59 CJ-5! Personally, I would hold out and get a trailer with larger wheels and tires. Even if you aren't going to load it up, a 3500# axle would be the way to go. And might as well get 5 on 5.5" so you have common tire size.

But what that does change is price. Cost at least double to go that way most likely so use that as the deciding factor.

    How bad are the brakes?
I pulled This from new york state to missouri and it was brown pants fun at just 700lbs. my jeep had 9" drums and a heavy cab on top. the 75hp is the safe part.
I would opt up to something solid with an axle that can accept hydraulic brakes if near unpredicable drivers

I haul my tank around quite a bit. It weighs 600lb so about 900lb total with the trailer. I have a v6 but it tows great hardly know its there. cant beat a hf trailer for the price. I think youll be fine. My dad bent an axle on our other trailer hauling gravelys. Its a converted pop up and he was hauling 2 gravelys and lots of attatchments and parts. He bent the axle back and reinforced and its been fine ever since. That was in the early 90s.

As mentioned being able to stop or needing to stop in an emergency to me is the factor here. What exactly does around town mean? Is it a bunch of stoplights that you might not be able to stop for, or is it stop signs that you can prepare for and plan your stopping? As far as the weight and handling, you should be fine around town, but forget highway speeds.
