It always amazes me that the minute you cross the border gas prices drop $.80 - $1.00 per gallon.

Gas tax and the idiot people in our state recently voted to renew it! Because I can wrench we have four older cars we drive and the registration almost doubled in two years, $80 buck to $140. If you do the numbers thats BILLIONS per year in new taxes. At least we now will have a bullet train from LA to the prison city of Wasco.

You'll never ride that bullet between Wasco or and any parts North of LA back to LA directly nor directly to the Bay Area.........High Speed Trains don't like to climb big hills... ( Grape vine / Wheeler ridge , ) nor is a 70 mile tunnel in the budget anytime soon ................same obstacles lay in wait going North to SF
( Altamont , or Pacheco Pass).........notwithstanding there is no vacant property at either end that would support rail terminals that could connect to High Speed directly.....

Based on current rail technology.......... What you'll get from Bakersfield is a Bus ride to downtown LA.......or maybe a Amtrac ride along the only rail route South of Bakersfield which is up and over the Tehachapi's @4031 ft. through Mojave and down the Cajon Pass into San Bernardino .........they are also looking at coming through Palmdale and use state route 14 into San Fernando...........keeping in mind both of these rail routes are owned by freight carriers and use the rail in both directions 24/7............Going North, I don't see them ever connecting to SF directly either..........Best guess would be running the High Speed North to say Tracy and grab a bus from there to the Bay Area .....whats left of the freight tracks are also overburdened with 24/7 traffic.

And if you recently caught the Governor of California on TV.........he is pretty much walking back all these High Speed dreams that were sold the to the tax payers in California for a quick 2 hour ride from SF to LA............Yeh Right!

I'll be about halfway between Carson City and Minden, NV. Rural area, all lots minimum 1 acre, lots of horses and cattle and some farming. My neighbors across the street are wheelers and have 2 Jeeps. He has a YJ on 37's and his wife has an LJ on 35's. I've been on some snow wheeling trips with them and they are the ones who told me about the property.

A co worker moved to the same area last month. Her husband retired and she is working from home. Right at the base of Kingsbury grade. They love it and will never be back.
    Congrats, pics?

You guys are killing me with all this Nevada moving talk. 10 years ago we had the opportunity to move our factory to Dayton, Just past Carson City on hwy 50. You know just pas those fine establishments in mound house..... lol...... A "better at the time deal came up" and a local assemblyman convinced us to stay here...... I really wish we were there now...... it's just too costly to move at this point.
