New to heeps!

Hey yall my name is Ryan im 17 and usually spend my money and time one a 1984 chevy in which i have 35in boggers, one tons that are welded, and a 383 stroker, but now i have been given a 1973 jeep i guess cj something or other, but it has an inline 6, and 31s. I spent 400 on it in the last DAY for motor parts and got it runnin good. It will be going to colorado this summer and i am wanting to run my boggers on it but i have heard that those axles are week so i wanna though my tons from my mud truck under it, they are a d60/14bff with 4:10s so i beilieve it will have enough power but i am scared that i will be too wide for the narrow colorado trails being those axles are wide as it is plus the boggers are on 10in wide wheels with 2in backspacing!!! anyways lol this is my project log

 

Have you taken the jeep off road yet? It will probably do just as well as you huge chevy. Putting one tons under a jeep is no small feat. sell the one tons and boggers get a small lift and a set of 33-34s.

 

Welcome to the site. A CJ is a bit different than the Chevy. A CJ is better.

Take a lot of picts. Start a build thread and put in the builds section.

 

ok i cant put one tons on it cuz my dads throwin a hissy fit but i dont care the stock axles are guna suit me better in colorado anyways.
My main concern is how can i put a better mechanical or even hydrolic clutch slave cyl on my jeep? cuz when i flex the frame twists and the clutch stays enguaged keeping me rolling

 

I've never done it on mine since mine is cable driven, but I know a bunch of members have. if you search "hydraulic clutch" on here you'll find it quickly.

 

Easy enough to do. Much easier then installing 1 tons for example.

I had a friend who lived in Floresville for a couple of years. When you get the CJ running you need to check out the New Katemcy Rocks in Mason.

here is what i started with...
I have put almost 600 in it in two days between
cap, rotor, plugs, wires, coil, starter solinoid, 33in mud tires, brake pads, spring kit for brakes, wheel cylinders.
It had a cracked frame and has ALOT of rust.

Hate to say it but thats a parts rig. For a couple hundred you can pick up a decent roller and go from there.

 

I know, that i will come later, this frame and driveline will have to do for this summer and until i get outta college, my niebor has a nicer one that i will prolly end up buying, just wait u will c a great transformation, just have patience

 

oh and i dont see the problem with what i have got, imma beat it up on the rocks and what not so why do i need a good body, i have a solid frame and will go from there
