It was an adventure but I FINALLY got the new tires and wheels installed today.

I took off work early to beat traffic and get to the tire store. They had removed all the tires and had just dismounted the first one when the power went out. They thought it was a rolling brown out from the heat but it turned out to be casued by a vehicle hitting a power pole. (for the second time in a week.) Luckily they did not dismount or air down the other tires yet.

So they put the spare on the ground along with the 3 old tires. The spare I bought new about 2 months ago after tearing one of my tires open in Oklahoma. I pack the 4 new wheels and the new tires into the Jeep and drive about 10 miles to the next closest store. By this time its 5:15 and they close at 6. The line is out the door when I get there. The first store had called ahead but they could not get to me until after the other customers were taken care. They finally finished about 6:45.

So 3 hours after I arrived at the first store the job was done. But at least it was worth it.

Thursday, I am replacing the dented oil pan and getting an AEV oil pan skid installed.

Then I get to save up for a winch mount plate, AEV tummy tuck and transmission skid plate.

Looks great! Keep us posted on how these tires wear, and the road noise... I've heard that the MTRs tend to get really loud as they wear.

Consider pulling your flares, give them a good cleaning/degreasing and light scuff, and paint them with Krylon Fusion Satin black. (alternatively, don't need to remove them if you can mask well - use thin, clear plastic report covers to slide behind the flares as part of the masking)

It will tie in with your rockers/bumpers/top very nicely, and eliminate that chalky appearance.
I did mine 3 or 4 years ago. I'll probably reshoot them next spring.

FWIW, I used Krylon satin black on mine, but they were way too shiny for my taste. I scuffed them up and sprayed them with Rustoleum truck bed coating. They look far better, and the bed coating is a whole lot more durable.

Hudson, how do you like the antirock? Can you feel a difference with it on or off-road?

It is a lot softer then the stock bar. I actually like the way it drives on the highway now. I always felt the stock bar was way too stiff.

Off road it make a huge difference. The tires stay on the ground a lot better and you don't have to connect or disconnect anything everytime you go from road to trail.

Tire Update: I had the first rotation about a week ago. Immediately after the tires were alot louder. They are starting to quiet down but definately louder than they were.

After having these for over a year I would not put them on a mostly DD again. They have gotten progresively louder over time and are getting squirmy on the highway. Off-road they are great but not for mostly highway use.
