Ok, my 61 popped out of gear (got left in neutral) and rolled down a hill. And I live in west virginia, so it was a HILL. I need a new front fender and I might as well replace them both since the one that didnt take the hit was rough anyway. Its an older fiberglass replacement body, but I wouldnt mind using metal fenders ( I still use the original steel hood and grill). The thing is theres metal fenders from 200$ each to 400$. Who makes a good repo fender, either metal or fiberglass?

I would look around for good OEM fenders - they are of much higher quality than the repops.

Post a WTB ad here and on the other forums like here, the Willystech parts list etc. etc. Cheapest will be your local Jeep/4x4 forum - ask the local Jeepers where to get new fenders.

Try car-part.com if you cannot find some private party. I searched and they are $150 at J&W in CA, and J&W does not sell cheaply. So even a junkyard would be a lot less than $400.

Having dealt with aftermarket fenders on several occasions, I'd say stay away unless you like having to re-work them and still have Ill-fitting parts. I'd try and find some good used oem units.

What they said. Nothing fits like originals. Post a WTB ad in the classifieds. Shipping may a bit expensive, depending.

I have purchased new and the stamping was not as sharp. I have also used a postal jeep fender. They work ok with trimming if you don't mind the reflector indent and closing up the holes on top of the fender.

I have a pair of DJ (Postal Jeep) fenders that are spare. They do fit but like said they had different light arrangements.

Yep, I bought mine from a local 4WD shop about 10 years ago. IIRC they were Cobra brand or something similar. The spot welds connecting the inner and outer fenders have broke and the front of both fenders are stress cracked. I welded the inner and outer fenders but haven't touched the stress cracking since I don't like body work.

I had a set of Cobra fenders for the CJ-6 project. One was an inch longer than the other and both "drooped" in the front right out of the packaging. I took the hit and sold them, then purchased good oem used ones. Best decision I made despite the financial hit.
