I am gonna have one. Got the stock clutch installed and still no worky worky. I am done for the night. I still will try tightening on the slave cylidner to the fork. Maybe that will adjust it a little more. I cant see inside the bellhousing to see if the throwout bearing is touching the clutch. Is there something i missed?? Only thing i didnt check is that the pilot bushing is "square" in the crank. I really didnt think this could be an issue and i didnt have any odd markings on the input shaft to see if it was rubbing wrong on the pilot bushing. I will recheck the throw, maybe i have some air in the line or something. Other than that i am lost and drained. Time for a

Dan, can you disconnect the slave cylinder and check the free play in the fork?

I could check the freeplay, . I didnt really meaure it, i just went by feel. Then i put the slave on, and tightened it till it would not let the fork move by hand. I still cannot shift the tranny when i have the driveshaft hooked up. If i have the Tcase in Nuetral i can shift the jeep when the motor is on, but when i put the Tcase in gear i cannot get it into 2nd-4th. I can grind it into reverse and 1st gears, but no other gears.

    Dan,

I have lost track of your set up. Could you review please. Have you considered installing just the clutch and bellhousing so that you can get a look at whats happening or not happening?

Put the bumper up against a tree, put it in first and start it with the clutch in. That'll tell you if the clutch is fully disenguaging. When we swapped a T18 into my buddies Cj5, for some reason the clutch disc wouldn't release until we did this once and then everything worked fine.

Dan, If you haven't done this already, have someone push in on the cluttch pedal and measure the amount of throw you get from the slave. 3/4" would be about minimum to disengage the clutch. If you are not getting that much travel, you probably have some air in the line. When installing your slave, the bleeder valve should be either on top (hard to bleed) or on the side. If it's on the bottom it may prevent you from fully bleeding the slave. Also, the end of the clutch release arm should be slightly forward of 90 deg. to the centerline when it is at rest. That is, the end of the arm that the slave connects to. I used an adjustable pivot ball to get this angle. Check to make sure that the clutch release arm is not hitting the back of the hole in the bellhousing when the clutch pedal is fully depressed. Check to make sure your slave bracket is not flexing too much.
