I have read all the posts I could find on this site and many others but cant find a heater upgrade solution for the '72-'77 cj5 (i have a '74). I read Stans (binky) writeup, and he points out the challenges. Why is it so difficult? Clearly I have not started yet, but it gets cold here and I am scared 'cause I dont have a whole lot of hair to keep me warm. Anybody know of an easy solution?

I agree, my CJ5 has it's stock heater setup. Does anyone have the defrost tubing hooked up? Mine is missing, and have thought of buying it for an upgrade. Right now, my heated air just blows into the under part of the dash, no real heat that crosses your body and head. However there is always plenty of absorbed cold from the softtop and small openings around the doors. Any Help or ideas? Does anyone have the Defrost tubing? Share your thoughts! Thanks in advance.

Your locall FLAPS should have the 2.5" defroster duct. When Hippo was here, I gave my leftover piect to him.

Ok, I took the heater motor out and took it into PartSource and compared it to a few other motors. The actual doing of the upgrade will be dead easy. Finding the right motor is not so trivial. I found a couple Siemens pn#s pm332x and pm350x, but they only spin at 2800 rpm. I found another here: http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2004100620505276&item=10-1738&catname=electric , and here: http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2004100620505276&item=10-1732&catname=electric . About the defrost ducts. I have one main duct off the windshield but two outlets on my heater. I wish I had digital camera, my wife took it to the inlaws.
