Got my new leafs for the rear and I noticed there are bushings in each end that won't allow the shackle + bushing (that comes with each shackle) to fit.
Should I press one of these bushings out and which one? One end has brass the other has a laminated steel/rubber bushing.
Is there an easy way to punch it through?

i would just use whichever bushing that is in better condition. , they are both new, then keep the bushing that is in the spring because it would be work to remove that one compared to the bushing on the shackle which is easy to take off. just make sure you grease the bolt good so that it doesnt seize to the sleeve.

One needs to come out to fit the "C" shackle and grease shackle bushing in. It looks like the brass bushing should go and the laminated rubber/steel stay in for the spring eye bolt. I thought maybe some one had see this before.

Where did the springs come from?

I have never seen the OE shackle setup apart but your spring bushings included may be setup for aftermarket shackles or standard CJ5. They share the same size springs for about 25+ model years. The brass should be for the stock CJ2 "screw in" type shackle. Krage tried to explain this to me and this is what I understood. (I think)

    Someone correct me if I am wrong. I'm a con-ferr con-vert : ;)

Thanks for the help. These are from Walck's so I'll do the easy thing and call him.[IMG]

Edit: Just called Walck's, the brass bushing stays and the laminated goes. These are installed in the spring eyes so non-greasable shackles can be used.
