What width rims should be used to mount STA NDCC 700-15 tires? The rims I have are to wide!

If I recall, the standard for the jeep were 4 1/2. Which was the same size rim on the wagons 15 inch rims. The trucks used 16 by 5, at least for the riveted rims. My 58 CJ5 has 16 by 4 1/2.

I have those NDCC tires mounted on 5.5 inch x 15 rims and they look OK as well.

I believe the 7's should go on 5" rims but I have mine on 4.5" & they're perfectly fine.

    600 x 16's get the 4 1/2 inch inner width
    7 x 16's get the 5 inch inner width
    7 x 15 gets the 5 inch inner width
    does that help?

Yes it does Unkel Dale. I've got a line on 4.5-15s,Howard said they work for him. What would be the down side of using 4.5"instead of 5"?

    Your tire is 1/2 inch thinner at the rim 5 - 1/2 = 4 1/2
You are lessening the high sped turning safety when you are narrower. To compensate for this there was an extra 1/4 inch for a bead lock type detail on many 50 and 60's era rims that were narrower.
