Careful, make sure you're following the law.

Look into your local antique title laws. I have purchased antique vehicles with a notarized bill of sale only and was able to get titles. Many DMV have a form you can print off from the computer and take with you to the sale to record the transfer.

Each state has its own laws about vehicle registration. I know that MA would register it with a bill of sale, but check the laws in NJ. I suggest you visit your local registry and ask them what's involved.

No, a CJ-5 top will not fit.

Bestop makes a Tiger Top for the CJ-3B.

Tiger Top is the one and only unless you want canvas. They actually fit very well but not too impressed with the door stays. Welcome to the ugly clubR)

i dont really see how i'm too young, ive been working on engines for a while so its not as big of a leap for me. i will post pictures tonight but its in rough shape, the floors are completely missing on the drivers side. my dad owns a 1946 Cj-2a so i've been around these flat fenders since i was born.

Brakes and steering need to be your first money spent, not a top.

    X2 with brakes.

Look at the brakes immediately, and then check steering.

My brakes were mickey moused together, and were probably ready to fail.

I don't think you are too young. Old jeeps and old trucks are the perfect vehicle to learn to drive on. They require manual control so you will have a great foundation on how a vehicle drives and the basics of what makes it tick. They take your full attention, so you will be forced to be an attentive driver. You will do fine. Also, since you are going to put your own blood and sweat into getting it going, you will appreciate it more than the average teen.

I learned to drive on the jeep you see in my avatar in 1977, got my license in 78. There were times I did stupid things in my jeep as a teen, but had I been in a car I would have done much worse because cars can get away from you when you are not being attentive.

I wish you the best Luck to you and your project, you made a great choice!

thanks, i have to get the engine to turn over, its a 6volt system, i need a new fuel pump, carb kit and then once it moves i'll worry about brakes and steering. i currently own a 66 cj5 70 dj5a 69 cj5 and the 53 cj3b, the 3b is my new favorite
