I am pretty sure my 72 CJ5 has a Meyers hard top. And from all that I have seen so far it is a safe bet the top will also fit on a 1971 CJ5.

I forgot to say I would hold up the doors and check hinge alignment with going from a half cab to a full cab with two sets of doors, folks like to drill different holes in there doors to mount hinges. Maybe that was just my luck.

If you post a couple of pictures showing the whole top and the windshield angle we should be able to help to confirm what you have.

Sure seems to be a Meyers and should fit your '71 just like it fits the '72. I see you obviously did buy the '72. :)

The body tubs are essentially the same with some slight differences but, the general specs and sizes and dimensions etc remained the same until the change in '76. The top will fit.

Now is there any special method to install? Will I have to separate every piece to install on another Jeep?

You can do it in one piece (minus doors) or separate...Your choice.

Yes indeed, I just got lucky and was able to enlist the help of a couple of neighbors. No reason to take it all apart. But it appears there is some a few fitting issues. The rear door was not designed for non tail gate CJ5's. And the roll bar bolts are also interfering. Not liking the idea of drilling more holes in the side of my Jeep behind the door area. Seems I have enough holes not being used scattered around already.

Dang, that kind of sucks. I'm guessing for the rear door you need some sort of filler piece to account for the missing tailgate upper portion stick out?

Saw a Meyer 5 window top on a 1971 renegade II over in John Day, Or. so they must be able to work with non tailgate unless they made a special back window/hatch thing. Also had factory swing out spare tire carrier.most likely dealer installed on both items. This was a original one owner jeep.

It's a Meyer. Might be an older one, since the rear door props are a design I do not recognize. The props I have telescope.

Yeah, the door isn't designed to work with the solid back panel. The rear-mounted spare would block it anyway.

The ratcheting style door props are original on all models that I have seen(I have owned 4 meyer tops)The gas strut is conversion is a great upgrade. As I posted earlier the swing out tire rack was used on tailgate delete and renegade models to facilitate rear entry.
