1556316843975285363710.jpg Is this how the special little float spring is supposed to be installed? As shown it provides just a little bit of lift to the float. Short tang runs under the stainless piece with two holes. Didnt take photos when disassembled because "I got this".

    Dont have this.

That looks to be the correct placement of the spring.

I stand corrected, Apparently the 2150 used the spring for float bounce. Mikes sells the spring, not sure of the correct orientation though .

Jeff, my understanding is not every 2100 has this spring, and its a feature some appreciate for off-road applications. Mine came with it, cant comment on its value as I havent compared with or without.

    Yes.

The spring was introduced with the 1973 model year. It is a float damping spring. There is a service bulletin that describes its installation on a 1972. If a customer complained about flooding over broken terrain, it could be installed as a warranty repair.

Jeep only, AFAIK. I have seen them for sale online, however. Note that most 2100s were used in Ford cars, so I'd presume that's where most of the carb cores come from. The reman houses tear down the cores into parts, and then build carbs to maintain stock as needed. Experience indicates that they routinely leave out the spring. So if you don't have the original carb, the spring is very likely gone.

Question on best-guess setup. Engine will be conservatively rebuilt with 8.5:1 CR, slightly improved cam (comp 252H), and without much in way of emissions encumberances. I figure factory carb setup was probably on the lean side (47 mains, i think a 6.5" PV, maybe 7.5"). Driveline is original (3.73 gears, T15 three speed)) except 32" tires.

I'm thinking to put carb (1.08 motorcraft 2100) back on with 49 mains and an 8.5" PV as a starting point. Engine has stock iron intake, a larger K&N, well made 2-1 of slightly larger pipe with Flowmaster (stock manifolds). So these things may push it just a shade leaner than factory.
