Working on my first re-build. 1968 CJ-5 stock brakes and dual master cylinder. I purchased a master cylinder re-build kit but I am having trouble removing the piston. I have and use religiously SM 1046, page 332 fig. P13 shows a piston stop on the bottom of the master cylinder. My master cylinder does not have one. I removed the link eye, boot and snap ring and cannot figure out how to remove the piston.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It will come out, I had trouble getting mine out also. There is nothing else holding it in, I believe it's the suction from the trapped fluid that holds it in.

Put a rag over the piston and shoot some air in the line hole. Careful, it could go flying if you use too much air.

Got it, thank you for your help. I just did not want to force it without being sure. For me it's a good day when I can fix more than I break lol.

    Thanks again,
