Does anyone know if I can install a universal choke kit on my dauntless edelbrock 1406 or do I need the special kit for the 1406?

The 1406 is electric choke...it's also 600 CFM, much too large for a 225.

Already understand. It is as I bought it. I just want to get rid of the automatic choke.

You could get one of those el cheapo manual conversion kits that replace the electic choke cap, or you could get the choke cable bracket off an Edelbrock 1405 & hook it up that way.

Thanks. I knew about how to convert to a 1405, but didn't know if the actuator lever inside the canister would connect to a universal choke.

Unless that 6 makes 300hp, u'll be Much happier with a smaller carb.
    Or just unhook the secondaires?

Or just drive it like a jeep and not a hellfire? I'll drive it as it was meant to be operated. Thanks

No really the carb you have is incorrectly sized even if you don’t drive it. You’ll love a properly sized carb.

It's not about hellfire, it's about fuel control. A small engine does not pump enough air to make a large carburetor meter fuel properly. You can compensate for this some by setting the mixture/accelerator pump/power circuit richer than ideal. But mileage will be in the dumpster.
