Those doubled up shims may be unsafe. I'd keep a close on them. Very close.

Let the fabrication begin. Shouldn’t be too difficult to remove a bit of the pan that’s interfering.

I know what some of the guys down my way would say to fix this...... a BFH. (Big freaking hammer)

Probably not the most recommend approach though...

Late to the party, but I also have a 75 CJ. Mine has been lifted by me ~3-1/2". I also am running 33's, spring under.. The shims in the rear are concerning. They are there to adjust the drive line angle. Having two different kind is weird. Me? I'd pull em out and see what the correction angle is.. It should be marked on the shims. Could be that the one that is doubled is half the angle of the solid one..

Someone else mentioned a folding step stool. My wife has to have the large size.. I carry it just for her. She is vertically challenged. I also had to make a wooden floor box so her feet will have something to sit on.. Sigh...

Rear Drive Line.jpg 1975 CJ5 Front Shackle Size.jpg I appreciate your reply. I measured my present drive line angle , It's 11 Degrees , with a 13" driveshaft , from center of universal to center of universal.
If I take those shims out, which I'm gonna do , it will increase that angle, Correct ???. I am also going to R&R the present 3 3/4 ", o.c. spaced shackles with OEM's that are 2 3/4" , on center. I 'm hoping that will Bring it all back to 11 Degrees, which I've read is OK. Both universal's are in the same plane, as far as making the short driveshaft aligned straight from the transfer case to the rear differential. Did I mention that my CJ5 has got a Auto 700R4 / overdrive tranny. That's why the driveshaft is so short !!!

I’m going with the shim on the passenger side is to correct the lean.

Just my opinion, looking at your profile picture it seems to me your sitting pretty high in the rear compared to the front. I also counted 6 leafs on your rear springs. It may not hurt to remove a leaf or two and check your ride height? It would certainly soften up the ride some.

Good luck, in time your get it all sorted out.

Thanks Dphillip, I appreciate your interest. My CJ sits perfectly level... I think it looks higher in the rear end 'cause of the slop of that Driveway ? I am not , by far, a Spring expert .... But I do believe that 6 leafs was the OEM Spec ? If I removed one leaf @ the front would it settle down closer to my long steering tie rod ? It's pretty close now ? I really do appreciate all your opinions & observations. It sure helps when your working alone ! -- 1975 CJ5 Front Spring Sterring Arm Clearance.jpg Lockman

The distance between your tie rod and main leaf spring should remain the same. Even over bumps the tie rod will ride up with the axle.

    Hi Mcruff,
Finally got warm enough to change these out to OEM's . Lowered my Jeep a bit by doing so, but the handling improvement is also noticeable. I also got an improved angle of ~ 10 degrees, both front & rear , so that is a win also . I think Fino suggested earlier that I could remove a leaf to both soften the ride & possibly lower my Jeep a tad more ? My question would be : Which leaf ? I've got 6 in each of my 4 leaf 's, but the two lowest ones look like the were added later ? And that's only my dumb reckoning , cuz of the color difference ??? Thanks-----Lockman
