    Hi all,

I am looking to replace the glovebox latch mechanism seen below. As you can see, mine broke apart from the inside, this is what is left.

I would be every interested in buying another one like this one if anyone has one lying around:

You can see how the latch itself snapped off from the inside in these two:

Face plate side looks like this:

Thanks in advance! I love Paypal....

I have this exact lock in mine and I had it apart yesterday, and I don't see a single thing broken on yours. From comparing it to mine, your just missing every single piece inside aka the guts and the springs and the rear cover plate. IF you have all the internal pieces you can simply re-assemble it and keep using it.

And if you have no more use for this lock, I would be interested in it.

Think I at least do not have the springs, should have all other parts.

should be 3 springs in it total, 2 small ones that go inside of the holes on the piece that looks like a right angle and presses against the rear cover plate (the 2 little pointy things on the rear cover plate go inside the end of each spring) and the large spring goes inside the channel of the striker piece and presses on the bottom of the housing. And the rear cover plate needs to be in its correct original contours and bends or it wont work just right.

If you need it, I can take mine back apart and take measurements or pictures for you. Of the springs or anything else.

OK well to keep the thread going, for the right price I will take another instead of trying to find those tiny springs which I think are long gone, but I will also check what i have and see what I might be able to do..

FWIW FYI I've been told late 60's-early 70's chrysler products used the same lock on their glove boxes.

Just a thought. Try taking it to a lock shop. A good locksmith will be able to re build it.

Apparently that lock was on a bunch of different stuff. I got an NOS one on Ebay that was listed as fitting early 50's Chrysler products (Plymouth, Dodge, Chrysler, Desoto). It looked identical in the picture and sure enough it is. Came in a neat old Western Auto Parts box and even has the keys.

That appears to be it. Fits same years as the one I bought. Different seller though.

Wait, wait. This is some great info. Can it be turned into something more permanent? At least wait until I get home and record the information. :)

No sweat, Matt. When I got home I saved all the info and actually just ordered one from ebay. I had a locksmith try to get mine to work a couple of years ago but it still doesn't work properly. Thanks for starting the thread. I hope the info gets saved to the site someplace for further reference because I looked for this when mine was being worked on but found nothing here.

Mine is just kinda' worn out and even though they made a new key for it, actually locking it is a hit and miss deal. Thanks for asking the first question that lead to a new lock. :stout:
