At $600 I think it's overpriced. Rebuilt from Herm is $800 and new is $940 except the V6 one which is $1025. You would also need a $68 shifter. A parts kit to rebuild yourself is $250.

When i installed Tera Lows last summer - I spent quite a bit of time fighting getting the right OD set-up etc - traded around a couple used ones and ended up with a new one for the $940 price. AA shipped it right to my door with the unusual barrel gear I needed for the tera lows for no additional cost - wished I would have just started there and saved myself the months of frustration. From my experience, max price of $400-450 on used if it looks to be in good shape - More than that I'd go new, but I did already have shifters etc. Make sure its got the right planetary spline count for the transmission output as well as the correct tooth count and diameter on the outer barrel gear.

Pretty much any overdrive that has been run and shows wear I try to stay under $300 for. The average rebuild from Herm is about $400 so any more and you may just as well buy a rebuilt one and save all the shipping. The biggest wear points are on the spider blank inside the barrel gear which you have to take apart to inspect properly.

I have seen exactly 1 good "used" overdrive, ready to bolt in and use. And it was sold for $600 a couple years ago. Nearly every other one has issues with the planetary. Those small gears take a beating, as well as the bowl housing and shaft.
I price a used overdrive with the assumption I have to buy a new planetary assembly. Even replacing the gears with new doesn't guarantee they will run smooth and quiet if the parts they mesh with have wear.
Yes, make sure you get the correct spline count and tooth count for your trans and transfer case.

I agree with the others 600 is too much for an overdrive that will likely need at least 200 or more in parts which would put you at a rebuilt from herm and gives you the advantage of having someone who will answer the phone and help if you have issues

YES! Unless you run them without lube, the rest isn't usually a problem. No way to tell what lurks there with the photos. With the riveted tag, that is likely an older unit-pre mid 70's. And another case where a little parts cleaning would likely bolster the sale-----

As for the Tera Low's, I believe I bought both the gear set and the 26 tooth OD barrel gear through Summit. Best price I could find. That was at least 15 years back.

Just for even more information, the TerraLow 26 tooth barrel of the planetary is not the same as the 26 tooth barrel used with the early D18's. They are different diameters.

    Yep.
I have several used OD units that look like this. I wound up spending $300 to buy a new planetary hub from A A

Doe it fit your application? theres 3-4 different ones depending on the transfer case and such. An OD that fits a Willys MB will not fit a 65 CJ-5 etc.
