Anyone get a moaning noise from their rear limited slip when first driving off? It sounds like that is where it is coming from, generally only right when I back out of the garage but today it moaned for about 1/2 block before going away. Intermittent moan, varies with speed, does not happen with clutch in. Only happens when the jeep is rolling. Differential is full, has the additive. 19 spline dana 44.

I bet its either one of your transmission bearings or a transfer case bearing or intermediate shaft.

my jeep has a lockrite in a stock jeep mine makes plenty of noises but a moan is not one of them. I did notice its much quieter with good clean fluid and not an overfull diff full of water from the last water crossing coleman

also I was told by lock rite mine doesn't need an additive

The only time a limited slip will make noise, which it shouldn't anyway, would be when turning. Going straight ahead nothing in the limited slip portion is moving independent of each other unless one tire was trying to slip. Most likely what you would experience in a turn would be a chatter anyway.

Is your saginaw "power"? Realize it should have no effect from the clutch but that may be another issue.

I still get the noise, generally when backing up on when sitting for a couple days. I will see if I can record it.

Drop the rear drive shaft and using the front to drive then see if you still have the moan..
