My l head starts to misfire when she gets warmed you know black smoke and no power . I put new plugs and points and cap /wires someone told me it could be the coil . But it runs like a clock when cold. Could it be the carb? :hurrican:

Could very well be the coil. My 1st experience with a bad coil was just like you described.

duke54: When you changed the cap....did you check and make sure it was the same? Look at the rotor....if the center tang is flexible, then the cap will be solid carbon in the center. If the tang is solid on the rotor, then the cap will have a spring loaded carbon. When the wrong cap gets installed it will play havoc. Just a thought ;) Good Luck!! Glenn

Yup, like Glenn said, check that out. But, every coil that I've had that has failed, has been when it gets hot. It's a cheap fix to try a new one. If that's not it, you got a spare! :D
