the US Gooberment would never let you bring 'em here.

So why wouldn't the government let you bring them here?

Okay, I just noticed something in the new picture I attached. If you look at the dash plate with the shift pattern info you will see what appears to be a Mitsubishi emblem. It is right below the handle for the glove box door. I blew it up as large as possible today and it looks just like the marking on the grill of the Mitsubishi Jeep. Could it be when Willy's and Mitsubishi signed the agreement for them to build the CJ3B they also built these for the Army to use in Asia? This might make sense because all the Mitsubishi Jeeps were diesels and right hand drive. I have a couple of great pictures of some newer M-Jeeps if anyone is interested in seeing them.

They won't meet the emissions requirements. There's lots of cool vehicles overseas that we can't bring here because of that.

If they're older than M/Y 1983 (and I have a strong suspicion that most if not all of these are), the "US Gooberment" will welcome them in with open arms. Getting a container and sending it back across the Pacific might not be as expensive as you think either!

Importing for "show" is easier than for everyday use.

There is a Mitzi in ebay right now, it is in Canada.

Okay, I just checked out the Mitsubishi Jeep on E-bay and noticed a few things. It has the same instument cluster panel, tail lights and windshield vent as the MB clones I saw in Japan. Now I'm sure the emblem on the dash plate is a Mitsubishi. I still can't find any information about them building MB's for the US Army.

They where proably not us army jeeps. They did make a jeep that looked reall close to the mb, except right hand drive. Somebody probably just painted them to look like US army jeeps

Yeah, and that is why they do allow grey market vehicles that are *25 years old and older.* They figure that they'll be brought in more by/for collectors than for everyday use.

That Jeep is a '91. Key words here are "in Canada". Those lucky turds up there can bring them in when they reach 15 years of age! I'm extremely envious, can't you tell?

This guy here brings J54s into the States, BUT... notice if you will the model years on his current inventory, all 1983 and older: http://paladintrucks.com/index.htm

I think the owner should part them out if you can't get them here as a whole. Can't let them go to the scrap yard......
