I was looking through the classified on a local site called ksl.com and found this jewell, they are asking $14500, is this a good deal?? I'm just curious and don't have that kind of money to invest in something like this. But would love to have one!!

My first thought was, "Wow that's a high price" but I'm new to jeeping and don't know how rare a Commando of that year is.

IMO it's someone who bought it (cheap?) and is trying to flip it for a big profit. Or else they are listing it high and not serious about selling. These cars are not "rare" in terms of "rare" cars. The true convertible is really rare, the half-cab is desirable, roadsters and full-cab are not. It appears to be in nice condition, but the miles are pretty high for a "collectible." I think a serious buyer might consider half that much as a starting price, then negotiate. Not serious IMO.

If he dropped the 1 off it might be a good deal at $4500. Not rare, no exceptional.

For 14K+ I would not want to see ANY rust as I see on the quarters and door jambs of that Jeepster. Plus the rear bumper seems a bit tweaked.
IMO it's like Timgr said - worth about half of the asking price.

I remember buying my '69 for $1,280. sure, a bit of rust in the rockers, some wrenching involved, some welding on the front fenders and frame. Mine came with an old Bellview M 6000 winch as well.
    Yep, a bit overpriced

Bargains come in all kinds of flavors. I guess it comes down to what the market will bare. Myself as Chris stated above, I'm cheap! 39K dollars for this Jeepster listed below might be a great deal for someone, but I can think of a lot of things I would rather throw money at.

Way too high! If that one is worth $14,000, I'll gladly sell mine for $12,000. :( He does not even know the engine size, stated as 4.0 liter.

Just a hopeful flipper. He thinks it is worth more with new white spokes then if he had put new tires on the original wheels. It is all about the rust on really any Jeep but especially on FSJs and Jeepsters.
